We can't wait to debut Lunar Ascent IPA brewed with hibiscus tea and ginger, infused with moonstone and black obsidian lavastone. This IPA is hopped with local Nugget hops from North Fork Brewing's very own hop farm in Peconic, as well as Mandarina Bavaria, Citra, Ekuanot, and Magnum hops.
The recipe for this brew was developed by Catie Callaghan (cellar, Greenport Harbor Brewing), Michelle Demetillo (hospitality & community manager, North Fork Brewing) and Christine McCormack (brewer, Jamesport Farm Brewery), with the guidance of Peter Barraud (co-owner and brewmaster, North Fork Brewing) and the production team at Greenport Harbor Brewing.
Whether you believe in healing properties of tea, plants or stones, we wanted to brew a beer inspired by their benefits for an important cause.
HIBISCUS TEA is a great source of antioxidants. Many claim that it can be used to calm nervous disorders, help with sleep, and even speed up metabolism. It has been reported to strengthen immunity and work as an anti-inflammatory agent. (Purchased for this collaboration from former Long Islanders, and husband and wife team, Dan and Daneal O'Leary of North Shore Tea Co.)
GINGER may have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiviral properties.
MOONSTONE is a stone of inner growth and strength, for new beginnings. It soothes emotional instability and stress. It is also reported to enhance intuition, and promote inspiration and success.
BLACK OBSIDIAN is a stone that forms from volcanic lava, which has powerful metaphysical properties. It helps to shield against negativity and shadow traits such as addiction, depression, anxiety and anger. (Acquired for this collaboration from Earthly Secrets Crystal Shop of Westhampton Beach)
